When My Heart Sinks, I Know I Am Not Alone

As I sit on the top of the mountain, my physical body is high above the clouds, but my heart sinks to the depths of the black ocean. I know it is an inevitable part of life, but my little girl brain knows he will live forever…

Confusion and heaviness cloud my mind like the dense rock, clay, and slate that make up this mountain. I don’t want to see through to the other side because that means…it has actually happened…

I close my eyes and listen…

I listen to the mountain and the steady heartbeat I swear I can hear coming from her depths. I listen to the winds and the melodious chorus as they feed my bones. I listen to the trees as they whisper through their wild branches, “You are never alone.” I listen to the silence…and I hear him.

The darkness begins to dispel as a deep acceptance sets in. He is not gone…

He is here with me on this mountain, in the wind, in the trees, in the rich, sacred sounds of silence.

He has returned to that from which he came; from what we all are. He is not gone. He beats, he sings, he whispers, he echoes into eternity.

The Knowing That Is Not In My Mind But In The Depths Of My Soul

"Show me how you get back up. When the world is crumbling around you. When it seems as if everything and everyone have lost their minds. And you quake with fear for the future. For your children’s children. How you see the broken and cannot fix it. No matter how hard you try. Some violence here. Destruction over there. An unending dance of death unfolding. What helps you hold onto yourself in the face of it all? Keep showing up day by day. How do you handle the hard pit of anger roiling in your belly? Tell me who you are by the primal of your screams. Reverberating across the planet. Put all your rage in your mouth and howl it into the night. I will join you. Lips open. Sound echoing beside you. Together, we will be seen." —Shannon Crossman of @shann_crossman #HOLYFIRE #NEWWORLDRISING Read more: @kayharr73 @ladypantzz @dharmaunicorn @thugunicorn

Her ability to meaningfully connect with those she serves so selflessly arises out of her personal commitment and disciplined approach to deepening her own learning and practice of yoga, philosophy, and meditation. With a degree in Psychology from James Madison University combined with her Elementary Education License from Mary Baldwin College, Becky uses both her knowledge and experience from these disciplines to design yoga workshops, classes, festival offerings, and retreats that expand the senses, broaden the mind, and open the heart to what is truly possible.
