Gather vials of stoppered glass
Line them up in a careful row
Pull back the heavy curtains
To catch the moon’s soft glow
Fill three with water and three with oil
Fill another with soil or sand
Leave one empty to stand alone
Label each with a steady hand
The first three bottles are to drink
The next three are for taking care
The other one is for grounding you
The last one has space to spare
Then leave them to absorb the moon
And then a day in sunlight, too
Then as the sun sets on the day
There’s more work we must do
To the first six bottles, we place a drop
Of lemon, mint, or herb
Into the soil, we place a key
But the last one’s not disturbed
And into the first six, we place our hopes,
Our wishes, and our dreams
In the seventh, we focus our work
And the last is not what it seems
The first three nights, we sip from one
Of each of the first three stoppered vials
While focusing on what we want
Then we meditate a while
The next three nights, we turn to oil
Massaging hope into our skin
We focus on the life we need
We open ourselves and let it in
The seventh night, we take the vial
And remove the hidden key
For four more nights, we keep it close
To let the grounding be
Then on the 12th night and the last
The empty vial stands alone
Beside it now, we place the key
To our hearts and homes
We focus on it, see it clear
Our whole lives until this time
There is no incantation here
No studied words or rhyme
There is only abundant love
Flowing in a steady motion
We draw to us all the love
That we’ve put into this potion
And no Prince Charming will ride his steed
To champion our case
We’ve not wished for the strength of ten
Or for a pretty face
And we’ve not drawn to us a person
Who would not be beguiled
We’ve not tampered with what is
Or the purest love defiled
Instead we’ve focused on our hearts
We’ve cleared out our minds
We’ve meditated on the love
Our hearts still hope to find
And there’s no danger to this spell
No more power in this rite
Than what we create from our self-love
And what we bring in light
Put the vials of stoppered glass
Upon the shelf and go
There is so much love in this world
Than you or I can know.
